FabulousWhat a fantastic book。 I thoroughly enjoyed it。 The storyline was epic and I honestly didn't see the ending coming。 I loved all the characters and loved how well the story unfolded。 I was actually sad to finish it。 I will now be checking all of this authors other books out。 FabulousWhat a fantastic book。 I thoroughly enjoyed it。 The storyline was epic and I honestly didn't see the ending coming。 I loved all the characters and loved how well the story unfolded。 I was actually sad to finish it。 I will now be checking all of this authors other books out。 。。。more

To be fair, I just got done reading an incredibly well written series from incredibly talented writers, so this book had a lot to live up to。 The writing style was a little thin, the plot was meh and cliched。 I didn’t find myself caring about any of the characters, and you could tell the author was potentially setting up a sequel which I have no intentions of reading。

I thought it was perfectly set up to make the audience curious。 I love when a book goes back and forth between character perspectives by chapter。 It keeps the confusion to a minimum and clearly states whos perspective it is at the moment。 This book had me guessing until the end。 And oh boy did it have an exciting ending!

Mother and son and troubleInteresting perspective of an almost teen whose father committed a crime, then left him with his mother and no money。 Others enter his life, including a much more dangerous villain。 His adventures in the storage units where they live reveal missing women from his community。 Held my breath at times。

Outstanding!Well written story that captures your imagination! This is the first book I have read of Victoria Stones but it will not be the last。 The story line is developed so well I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end!

a good book with twists and turns。 A little predictable at times。 I almost didn’t finish it but decided to and it wasn’t exactly the way I thought it was going to end。

The Quiet Edge kept me on edge。 I liked the weaving of stories within the story and Stones ability to keep the suspense gently flowing until the major conflict。

This was a great "escape read" as I call them。 Not too deep, not too emotional, not too tense。 Just enough twists to keep you interested and guessing to the end。 I thought the relationship between mother and son was just a little "off," though。 She was overly protective; he seemed to vacillate between being a bit rebellious and trying to be grown up and swinging the pendulum back to being a scared child。 Admittedly, this is likely the result of his relationship and experience of his father, but This was a great "escape read" as I call them。 Not too deep, not too emotional, not too tense。 Just enough twists to keep you interested and guessing to the end。 I thought the relationship between mother and son was just a little "off," though。 She was overly protective; he seemed to vacillate between being a bit rebellious and trying to be grown up and swinging the pendulum back to being a scared child。 Admittedly, this is likely the result of his relationship and experience of his father, but it seemed a bit overplayed to me。 All in all I enjoyed the book。 。。。more

Rating 3。5。 An enjoyable listen on kindle。 I think this was a free monthly pick。 Enjoyed this one way more then the first book of hers that I read。

Hopelessly boring The story waffled on in no direction whatsoever。 The characters were dimwitted and irritating。 The kid was so whiny I hoped the author would kill him off。 Honestly I skipped several chapters to get to the climax and even that dragged on for 4 chapters to end in the most disappointing conclusion ever。 Would not recommend。

Went off the rails。I was enjoying this book until the last few chapters then it went in a direction that just didn't work for me。 Went off the rails。I was enjoying this book until the last few chapters then it went in a direction that just didn't work for me。 。。。more

I wouldn't say this book is a stunning example of writing, but I did enjoy the story and got caught up in the characters。 Interestingly, it's set in Kansas (my home state) but other than the mention of Salina and Wichita, nothing else made it obvious that it was in the Midwest to me。 I wouldn't say this book is a stunning example of writing, but I did enjoy the story and got caught up in the characters。 Interestingly, it's set in Kansas (my home state) but other than the mention of Salina and Wichita, nothing else made it obvious that it was in the Midwest to me。 。。。more

Book 70 of 2022 — At The Quiet Edge by Victoria Helen StoneI read this book because it was the first one I already owned that fulfilled the fiction achievement for the Kindle Reading Challenge。 I loved this book! I couldn’t figure out where it was going for most of it。 There were so many different subplots, it kept me guessing the entire time! I did feel like there were a tad too many ancillary characters that muddied the main plot, but I’m hoping that means there will be a sequel or something!T Book 70 of 2022 — At The Quiet Edge by Victoria Helen StoneI read this book because it was the first one I already owned that fulfilled the fiction achievement for the Kindle Reading Challenge。 I loved this book! Kids screw everything up。I knew who the killer was as soon as he entered the picture。 But I am weird that way。 Glad things burned out as well as they did 。

This is what my dear mother would have called "a good gripper。" From the first page we are launched into the middle of a complicated situation。 We come to understand why Lily (the mother), Everett (her 12yo son), and other characters each have their own secrets and points of view。 There's a lot going on, from Lily trying to work her way out from under the shame, humiliation, and financial ruin that were the parting gifts of her seemingly wonderful husband。 There's a police detective whom Lily th This is what my dear mother would have called "a good gripper。" From the first page we are launched into the middle of a complicated situation。 We come to understand why Lily (the mother), Everett (her 12yo son), and other characters each have their own secrets and points of view。 There's a lot going on, from Lily trying to work her way out from under the shame, humiliation, and financial ruin that were the parting gifts of her seemingly wonderful husband。 There's a police detective whom Lily thinks believes that she's still in contact with her felonious ex-husband。 There are a lesbian couple living across the way, one of whom seems to be up in everybody's business。 There's an appealing young man who says he's come to town to help sort out his uncle's stuff, a storage unit full of strange and concerning stuff, a girl who's trying to make friends with the terribly lonely Everett, and Lily's one good friend, who has gotten her involved in her work of helping abused women escape from their harrowing spouses。 Lot's going on, and Lily and Everett are stuck living in a storage facility at the quiet -- if not spooky or creepy -- edge of town without much in the way of support or assistance。 I don't want to give anything away, but if you're up for a good gripper, you'll find one here。 。。。more

Frighteningly real! This novel could have been based on real life events。 The details are so cleverly woven into the plotlines the scenes come to life! I happened upon this author by chance and so glad I did。 I highly recommend this book。 Happy reading。

This was an interesting thriller, nothing groundbreaking or especially note worthy, but it kept me entertained on a day I'm truly not feeling well。 The one aspect I really appreciated is that Everett being gay wasn't that big of a deal。 It's simply who he is。 It's not played out for drama or to prove a point。 He is simply who he is, and as a gay man who loved mysteries as at a young age, I thoroughly appreciate that。 This was an interesting thriller, nothing groundbreaking or especially note worthy, but it kept me entertained on a day I'm truly not feeling well。 The one aspect I really appreciated is that Everett being gay wasn't that big of a deal。 It's simply who he is。 It's not played out for drama or to prove a point。 He is simply who he is, and as a gay man who loved mysteries as at a young age, I thoroughly appreciate that。 。。。more
